About The Samson Plan
The Samson Plan was born out of love, desperation, and hope. When our beloved Bouvier des Flandres, Samson, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer at the age of 10, we were devastated. Samson had been blind since the age of 2, which made him even more special to us, and the veterinary oncologist gave him just months to live.
Unwilling to accept this prognosis, we began researching alternative treatments. Through countless hours of research, consultations with holistic veterinarians, and connecting with other pet owners facing similar challenges, we developed what would later become known as the Samson Plan.
The Biblical Connection
We named our dog Samson after the biblical figure, whose story resonates deeply with our own Samson's journey. In the Bible, Samson was known for his extraordinary strength, which was granted to him by God. However, after being betrayed, he was captured by the Philistines who blinded him and imprisoned him.
Despite losing his sight, the biblical Samson's greatest victory came in his final moments. After being brought to the Philistine temple to be mocked, he prayed for strength one last time. God restored his power, allowing him to pull down the pillars of the temple, defeating more enemies in his death than he had in his life.
Like his biblical namesake, our Samson has faced his own trials. Though not born blind like the biblical figure, Samson lost his sight at age 2, yet this has never diminished his spirit or his strength of character. And when faced with cancer—his own Philistine enemy—he showed remarkable resilience.
Just as the biblical Samson found his greatest strength in his darkest hour, our Samson has shown incredible courage in his battle against cancer. His blindness, rather than being a weakness, has given him a unique perspective on life and an unwavering trust in those who care for him. In many ways, our Samson's journey embodies the themes of strength, resilience, and triumph over adversity that define the biblical story.
Our Journey
The Diagnosis
In January 2020, Samson was diagnosed with liver cancer. He had two large masses in his liver, and his blood markers were all over the place. The prognosis was poor, and his blindness made the diagnosis even more challenging, as Samson relied heavily on routine and familiarity.
The Research
We refused to give up hope. We spent weeks researching alternative treatments for dogs. During this time, we discovered promising research about the anti-cancer properties of certain anti-parasitic medications, particularly ivermectin and fenbendazole. We also learned about the importance of diet, supplements, and lifestyle changes in supporting cancer treatment, especially for a blind Bouvier des Flandres like Samson.
The Plan
Working with a holistic veterinarian who was open to alternative approaches, we developed a comprehensive plan for Samson. This included carefully calculated doses of ivermectin and fenbendazole, a specialized diet, targeted supplements, and lifestyle modifications to support his immune system and overall health. We had to be especially careful with administration since Samson couldn't see, but he quickly adapted to the routine.
The Progress
Within weeks of starting the plan, we noticed improvements in Samson's energy levels and appetite. After three months, imaging showed a significant reduction in tumor size. We continue to follow the plan and monitor his progress closely. While his journey with cancer is still ongoing, the improvements we've seen give us hope and we want to share this approach with others who may benefit from it. His blindness has never slowed him down, and his favorite yellow duck toy continues to be his constant companion.
Blood Test Results
One of the most compelling pieces of evidence for the effectiveness of the Samson Plan was the dramatic improvement in Samson's blood test results. Below are the key markers that showed significant improvement during his treatment.

About Bouvier des Flandres
Samson is a Bouvier des Flandres, a breed known for their intelligence, loyalty, and strong work ethic. Originally bred as farm dogs in Belgium, Bouviers are powerful, sturdy dogs with a distinctive shaggy coat.
Interestingly, this breed has quite a history. During World War II, Hitler was reportedly bitten by a Bouvier des Flandres, which led him to order the extermination of the entire breed. Fortunately, the breed survived thanks to dedicated breeders who hid their dogs. This resilience and defiance in the face of adversity is something else we love about the breed—much like our Samson's own fighting spirit.
Samson's favorite toy has always been a squeaky yellow duck, which he can locate by sound. Even during his cancer treatment, this toy brought him comfort and joy.
Why We Created This Website
Throughout our journey with Samson, we found that information about alternative cancer treatments for dogs was scattered and often difficult to find. We created this website to share what we learned and to provide a comprehensive resource for other pet owners facing similar challenges.
Our goal is not to replace conventional veterinary care, but to complement it with information about alternative approaches that may help improve outcomes and quality of life for dogs with cancer.
We believe that by sharing Samson's story and the plan that helped him, we can offer hope and practical guidance to other pet owners who are navigating the difficult journey of canine cancer.
